Which is the greater achievement - to become enlightened or to know unconditional love toward all beings?

Q: Which is the greater achievement - to become enlightened or to know unconditional love toward all beings? I would’ve hoped that these two things combined are part of enlightenment, as I believe they should be... Sadly I find more and more supposedly enlightened individuals who carry anger, hatred, and resentment in their hearts while putting on the persona of an enlightened one.

A: It depends how you define “enlightenment”. To me, enlightenment refers to the understanding of our true, infinite and all-encompassing Self. However, experiencing that by itself is not sufficient to process all of the accumulated conditioning that one carries. And it is that conditioning that makes us carry anger, hatred, or resentment. As such, there is a post-enlightenment process of realigning our thoughts, feelings and behaviours with the understanding of our true Self. Then, we know unconditional love towards all beings.
