Self-perception: everything is a reflection of you

Some martial arts teachers teach that when you have a weapon, you become one with the weapon. For example - a knife - your hand is suddenly not a hand, because it can cut. When you drive a car, you become the vehicle. If you have anxious thoughts, the car moves anxiously. If you have a quiet mind, the car is ‘relaxed’.

In a similar way, when there is a sound, your ears become the sound. It is infinitely close to you, even though thought says there is distance between you and the sound. Sights, smells, tastes, sensations, are the same.

In other words, you are your direct environment. It is made of you. And even though objects within it shift, you remain changeless.
