Understanding Jesus and his message

From historical sources, it seems Jesus often said ‘believe me’, and not ‘believe in me’. The difference sounds subtle in words, but is, in fact, huge!

It had probably seemed very confusing for his followers at the time, who wanted to proclaim him King after feeding 5000 people out of the remnants of bread & fish - why he didn’t want to be King, yet asked them to believe him?

The answer is in the lack of the word ‘in’. In the Kingdom of Heaven, or in Truth, no one is above anyone else. There is only Love and Peace. Believing him would mean believing in the Truth of his message. Believing in him would mean believing in an idol, a male man, a human being. He wanted to avoid the latter at all cost (although today Christianity should be called Jesus-ism instead, because it is all about the life of Jesus). Christianity today is precisely what Jesus wanted to avoid, and also the reason why he deleted all of his writings and texts.

I suppose talking about belief was the best Jesus could do in the circumstances, shared conditioning and knowledge at the time. However, do not believe in the person Jesus. Believe in God, in your Self, in your own Salvation. This could be through Jesus' teaching or not.

Actually, I would encourage you to not believe in anything except your own experience. Beliefs are on the level of the mind, they are superimpositions over Truth. All that is required is to look to who you truly are, and know your Self and God rather than believe in anything.
