You have the freedom to choose to do your own will instead of God's. This has been called 'punishment' because it is a fall from Grace, a choice for hell. Once you are in hell, you can always
choose again - but you will have to go through hell's illusions to recognise God again.
Once you recognise your Self, you know that you are one with God, and there is no separate will. As such, you have never fallen from Grace.
