Equanimity is not passive, it's Joyous

Equanimity is often misunderstood. It doesn't mean passively accepting whatever happens and not reacting, but it is also does not mean reacting, either.

It’s the recognition that, beneath every feeling experience - happiness, sadness, confusion, clarity - there is a quiet & still field of Presence, a 'screen of Awareness' that permeates all images appearing on it.

In this picture which aims to explain the title above, “positive” can be replaced with "alive", and “neutral” could be named "all-accepting" or "all-permeating". Equanimity means that the highs and lows of emotion are seen as movements of one and the same field - Awareness itself - endlessly shifting yet never disturbed. And that Field is like an ocean that encompasses all experiences. When knowing one's Self as that Ocean, the thoughts & feelings of the 'personal' body/mind are experienced as tiny drops, a small part of an incredibly large field of experience. The sheer size of this equanimous Infinity means that equanimity is not the absence of feeling, action or reaction, but the experience of the Freedom within which they arise.

It is not dullness in any way, but radiant and alive stillness.

Not indifference, but joy.

p.s.: this is what I knew after my Awakening experience back in 2014. Of course, you may notice that I hadn't integrated a lot of my shadow back then.

p.p.s: the above words & concepts are just more metaphorical droplets - go beyond if possible.
